The IIFM Library supports users with its wide range of collection of knowledge resources and innovative information services. The IIFM Library is comprised of state-of-the-art technological applications with print and digital holdings. The IIFM Library has developed a total collection of more than 42820 volumes. The Library subscribed to 207 print periodicals including newspapers, magazines and foreign journals. The library is providing its users access to over 2200 online full-text journals and several abstracting databases. The library holds knowledge resources mainly related to forestry, climate change, environment, management and allied subjects. The Library provides information services and access to bibliographic and full text digital and resources to support the faculty, PFM students, MRM students, Research scholars, MDP Participants and informational needs of the wider Academic Community. It secured institutional membership of National Digital Library and subscribed to the institutional membership of the Developing Library Network (DELNET), New Delhi and their services used for resource sharing and exchange of information.
The users can access these resources anytime from anywhere in the campus using IIFM Network. The library subscribed to online databases, namely Science Direct- {(i) Environmental Science and (ii), Business, Management and Accounting}, EBSCO – {(i) Business Source Elite and (ii) Environment Complete}, EBSCO–eBook Business Collection, Emerald Marketing e-journals collection, Prowess and Indiastat database for facilitating usage through online access of information.

The IIFM Library is a hybrid with state-of-the-art technological applications with print and digital holdings. The library holds knowledge resources mainly related to forestry, climate change, environment, management and allied subjects. The users can access these resources anytime from anywhere in the campus through IIFM Network. The L&IS is committed to offer a wide range of information services set to the highest professional standards to build appropriate knowledge resources and to meet the information needs of the academic community of the Institute.
All the users (faculty, students/scholars and outsiders) entering the LI&S shall deposit their bags and other belongings at the entrance and sign in the Register at the checkpoint. The notebooks, laptops and the Library books for return will allowed inside the premises.
Do not leave any valuables at the Check Point. L&IS is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings.
All files, books, notebooks and material issued to the users must be presented to the Library Staff at the checkpoint for inspection while leaving the LI&S. The LI&S does not permit any exception in the observance of this rule.
Library Membership Card is compulsory for getting access to the Library.
All the users are required to bring one copy of their recent photographs (Passport Size) along with the membership form while applying for Library membership.
The books are lending (issue-return) and Xerox facilities will be available between 9:30 am to 6.00 pm. on working days. The library services during extended hours and Saturdays and Sundays will be restricted to reference and consultation only.

Every L & IS user (student, staff, faculty, any other user) shall visit the Library to borrow the library material. Users (Faculty/Staff/Students/any other Library member) shall not be allowed to borrow books on behalf of other members.

(Books to the Project staff engaged on contract basis shall be issued only on the recommendations of the concerned Project Leader/ PI, who shall be ensure timely return of the books. No staff engaged in the project shall be relieved without No Dues Certificate form the Library)
Reference titles and Journals will not be issued to any user. However, the LIO may consider issuing of select titles to Faculty.
Books may be renewed up to 2 times provided there is no reservation against such titles.
For issue of books/other reading material, the borrowers should present the same along with their Library Borrower’s card (in case of students) to the staff at the circulation counter. After necessary checking, Library staff will issue the book by stamping the due date on the due date slip and return the book to the borrower.
The ‘Issue Transaction Slip’ should be handed over to the attendant at the checkpoint /exit before taking the issued books out of the Library premises.
Books should be brought physically for return and renewals. A renewal over telephonic/verbal requests/written communication is not entertained.
Borrower is fully responsible for the books/any other material borrowed in his/her account. Hence, members are advised not sub-lend the materials borrowed from the Library.
In exceptional cases, a document may be recalled before the due date if required urgently in the Library. Failure to respond promptly to such requests may lead to suspension of LC privileges.
If the borrower fails to return the book(s) within a reasonable time of its due date as indicated in the recall notice/due date slip (pasted on the last page of the book), the borrower is liable to pay the cost of the book and other applicable charges.
For issue of new arrivals, priority will be given to member who recommended that book.
Members proceeding on long leave or leaving the station for any other purpose exceeding three months should return the documents that are borrowed by him/her before leaving the Institute.
Issues of the periodicals/journals are not issued to the members.
Electronic resources (CDs, Videos AV materials) and back volumes of journals are issued only to Faculty for a period of one week.
Books (that are issued to other members) can be reserved through OPAC
On receipt of the reserved books, the member will be communicated about its availability in the Library. The member should collect such titles within 24 hours of the above communication from the Library Circulation Desk. The reservation lapses automatically after 24 hours, and the next person on the list of reservations gets priority.
Members may get photocopies of select chapters/portion of non-issuable resources on payment of prescribed charges.
Overdue charges of overdue Books
Fine on overdue books will be charged at the rate of Rs.1/- per day for the first 15 days and Rs.2/- per day book for the next 15 days across members categories (student/staff/faculty etc.); If the book/any other material is reported (in writing) as lost/misplaced by the students/ faculty/staff or any other member, the overdue charges are not levied in such case from the date of report until the same is replaced. However, such transactions must be settled within two months from the date of reporting of the loss.
If a book or any of the above material is lost or mutilated beyond usable condition, the following rules will apply:
